About Me

My name is Rick. This blog is where I like to write about how it feels getting older — especially related to riding a motorcycle.

I started riding motorcycles in 1979 when I bought a CB 350. I had no idea how to ride a motorcycle and struggled to learn without any training. My initial riding experience lasted until I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1981. I couldn’t ship my motorcycle so I sold it.

Fast forward 30 years to 2011 – and I pick up where I left off – I was back into riding motorcycles. This time I took a basic rider’s course and got my motorcycle endorsement back on my license. I also ended up taking a confident rider’s course and an advanced riding techniques course – all from TEAM Arizona.

My first motorcycle after this 30-year-hiatus was a brand new 2011 Triumph Bonneville SE in the Orange and Black 2-tone paint scheme–I loved it. Since then I have owned a 2012 Yamaha FZ6R, a 2015 Yamaha FZ-09 and now I’m back to Triumph, riding a 2018 Triumph Street Twin.

I’m getting older – at the time of this writing I’m 62 years old – and I am more in love with motorcycle riding than I ever was. There is just something about riding a motorcycle that makes you forget about your age and let loose your inner youth.
